Here's a mind bender someone posed to me this week:

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word — from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?

The base word is Startling - starting - staring - string - sting - sing - sin - in - I :wink:

Hmm, what about this one then:

Vince Cohen lived alone and he preferred it that way. Vince never had any visitors and he never visited anyone. Since Vince never left his house it was necessary to have his supplies delivered every two weeks. One dark and stormy night Vince lost control of his senses, turned off all the lights and went to sleep. The next morning it was discovered that Vince's actions resulted in the deaths of several people. Why?

he was playing Clue and took it to seriously. lol

but really.....i think Vince actually caused those deaths a long time ago and had to isolate himself from the rest of the world after he realized what he had done.

Wow erm im not good at these things but heres a guess....

He left all the water running, lightning struck the house, deleviery man died cause he touched water in the dark..... and a few people fell out of the sky somehow and landed on the tv antenna on the roof.
