"The Majestic" in print
16 Nov 2001

Here's an update on some publications which have mentioned "The Majestic" recently:

The Manager of Laurie Land told us that on October 12th, The Wall Street Journal "ran an article on upcoming movies and how they might fare given the mindset of the public in the wake of the September 11th attacks. 'The Majestic' was one of the movies examined (and the picture of Laurie Holden and Jim Carrey outside the theater was also printed)."

An excerpt of the article follows:

"Expectations: They're hoping this one is Oscar® bait.

The Buzz: Prior to Sept. 11, this period drama could well have been dismissed as overly sentimental, but its pro-Americana story may now resonate powerfully. At a test screening last week in Arizona, many in the audience wept at the scene where Mr. Carrey's character convinces the townspeople to erect a memorial to veterans. Martin Landau is said to be fantastic as the father who wants to believe Mr. Carrey's character is his son; together they bring hope to the community by renovating the local movie theater. 'It's a Jimmy Stewart kind of role, which he inhabits pretty well,' says one executive who's seen the movie."

Also, Wesley Hofmann, JCO Correspondent, sent the news that "there are some pictures as well as articles on Jim Carrey and 'The Majestic' both in the newest Entertainment Weekly and the Premiere Magazine. They are both on newstands now."
