New Cast Member For "I'm Dying Up Here"
13 Oct 2015

By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)

In a previous article we mention that Showtime ordered a series called "I'm Dying Up Here" with Jim Carrey as the executive producer.

The show centers on LA's celebrated and infamous stand-up comedy scene of the 1970's. The pilot will delve into the inspired and damaged psyches that inhabit the hilarious but complex business of making an audience laugh.

The pilot is set to film in the fall and it has already four cast member: includes Erik Griffin, Andrew Santino and Stephen Guarino.

The lastest to join is actress Ari Graynor who's previous work was the series "Bad Teacher".

"Ari will play the series regular role of Cassie, an ambitious comedian from Texas who wants to be taken as seriously as her male comic contemporaries. Smart, witty and determined - to the male comics she's one of them, yet club owner Goldie (uncast) isn't convinced she's ready for the big time and challenges her to dig deep to find her identity."

Along with Jim Carrey, Michael Aguilar (The Departed), Christina Wayne (Copper) and Dave Flebotte (Will & Grace) will executive produce. Flebotte who's also a former stand-up comedian will write.

"The pilot is based on the nonfiction novel by William Knoedelseder and will be directed by Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies). The dramedy hails from Endemol Shine Studios and Assembly Entertainment."

We are very excited to see this pilot and we are hopefull that it will be a success.

We at JCO will keep you updated as more news come.
