I watched the movie yesterday, even though it was released in Spain almost a month ago. The number one reason for this is that I didn't like the trailers, to the point that I was pretty much convinced to skip a Jim Carrey movie in theaters for the first time since "The Mask".

Well, I had a good opportunity to watch it yesterday and I decided to give it a try. I don't regret it. I don't think it's a great film, but it's a nice and fun family movie. It felt more like a christmas movie than a summer one (not only because all the snow and cold weather), but no big deal. Jim was as Jim as ever and everyone else was OK (I did get a bit annoyed with the "I'm mad at you for no particular reason or for reasons that aren't actually your fault" daughter).

I don't really know how accurate it is to the book, but the story offered nothing new. In fact, the elements surrounding the main plot point are very, very similar to those of "Liar Liar" (divorced parents who get along well, kid/s who get them together again, crazy rescue at the end), and I'm not sure those were exactly 'new' in "Liar Liar" either. And then, some jokes worked for me and some (not as many) didn't.

All that said, I can say I actually enjoyed the movie. The trailers didn't make it justice and I'm glad I didn't skip it while it was in theaters (I WAS going to buy the DVD, anyway). If you are on the fence of watching this like I was, just go. If you are a Jim Carrey fan, and if you're here you should be, he alone makes it worthwile.

Now let's do that Dumb & Dumber sequel, Jim!! :lloyd:

I completely agree with you. I did find it odd that movie like this was a summer release but I figured Jim pulls more money in the summer then later in the year with holiday family films being released almost every week.

I have seen this film a total of 3 times now; was just recently released here in the UK. I love all Jim's films so I wasn't disappointed with this one - he is just too funny for words. It's his expressions!!

My sons also loved this film, my youngest is 8 years old and a massive Jim Carrey fan.....he adored the penguins and his favourite scene is at the beginning when Jim is just about to open the bathroom door and you can see the penguin swimming around in all the water that has leaked out the bath!!

How many times did he try and say "Cupar Keegan" (is that how you spell it??) that was so funny.... and "big fat friend" ha ha......

Will be getting it when it comes out on dvd for sure.....

For those who saw the movie, are there bloopers in the end?

No. Maybe on the DVD, although I don't really believe it will be.

Sorry for the big bump, but I had to write a review.

I really, really liked the movie! Jim Carrey is good with animals, we know that from Ace Ventura 1 & 2. It's not my favorite, but I still really enjoyed it! My favorite part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXIR3LUj8gE
''OMG, I'm to A D D to play with D A ddy, frowney face!''

8/10! Great job, Carrey!
