In between, he has started a cult, founded his own country and found out what happens when you say "Yes" to everything - a story so inspiring that it is being made into a film called Yes Man with Jim Carrey.
"I saw the first cut last week. I'm not precious about the story, so I just said that as long as they kept the spirit the same and it was warm, generous and a bit romantic [Wallace met his wife during the Yes Man book project], then I'd be happy.
"The weirdest part for me was flipping on the TV and seeing Jim Carrey talking about the film and the interviewer saying Yes Man. I just thought that if I'd called it something else, they'd actually have to say different words! But having seen it, Jim Carrey pulls more faces and falls over more than I did, but he treats the story with respect, which is nice."
